Version 2.00 for Linux - Icon Explorer, Colors Panel, and Automatic Updates

Axialis IconVectors 2.00 is now available for Linux x64, as a DEB package for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or later. It completes the 2.00 rollout after Windows on September 3 and macOS on September 15, with the same feature set: the Icon Explorer workspace with built-in file management and Batch Processing, the new Colors panel, Even-Odd and Non-Zero fill rules, a Control Bar that adapts to what you are doing, and the 155-tool MCP server. Like the Mac build, it also brings automatic in-app updates.

Install it once from the download page. From 2.00 on, that is the last package you install by hand; later versions arrive through the built-in updater.

Automatic updates from 2.00 on

IconVectors 2.00 for Linux ships with a new automatic update system. When a new version is out, IconVectors tells you, downloads it, and installs it in place; you relaunch and you are on the new version. No package to fetch from the download page, no apt install by hand, no settings lost on the way.

This applies to every version after 2.00. Because 1.70 does not have the updater, 2.00 itself is installed from the DEB one last time; after that, Help -> Check for Updates and the periodic check handle the rest.

What's new in 2.00 for Linux

• Icon Explorer - A second workspace that shows a folder's SVG files as a thumbnail grid, with subfolders and their icon counts above. Only the visible tiles render, so large folders stay responsive. Switch with the Editor/Explorer control at the left of the Control Bar; the open document keeps its layout.
• Built-in file management - Copy, Paste, Duplicate, Rename, Batch Rename, New Folder, Group in Folder and confirmed Delete, right from the Explorer. Paste and Duplicate never overwrite an existing file.
• Navigation and live updates - Editable path, Back and Forward history, Recent Folders, Up, and the Documents and Elements shortcuts. The current folder is watched, so changes made by another application appear on their own.
• Batch Processing - Apply Palette, Resize Icons or Apply Strokes on every selected file, using the same transformations as the Editor. Each batch is planned and validated first, with exact changed, unchanged, unsupported and failed counts, and rolls back on failure.
• New Colors panel - One pane with a PALETTES page and a COLORS page: a color field, a hue strip, HEX, RGB or HSL values, quick colors, and a Recent row. Left-click applies to Fill, right-click applies to Stroke.
• Even-Odd and Non-Zero fill rules - Path -> Fill Rule controls how compound paths and holes render; the rule is read from and written to the SVG.
• MCP with 155 tools - The local MCP server, /usr/bin/IconVectorsMcp on Linux, now covers Icon Explorer navigation, file operations and the batch plan-then-apply protocol, with setup guides for Codex, Claude, Cursor, VS Code Copilot, Gemini CLI, Kiro, Cline and GitHub Copilot CLI.
• Automatic updates - In-app updates for every later version, described above.
• Reliability - Navigation, panels, popups, drag and drop and workspace restoration are smoother, and numerous bugs have been fixed.

A faster color workflow

The Colors panel keeps a color of its own, separate from the selection: dial it in with the field, the hue strip or a typed HEX, RGB or HSL value, then click through as many elements as you like, left for Fill and right for Stroke. Recent colors stay one click away, and the PALETTES page keeps the palette commands you already use.

Installing on Linux

Download the DEB and install it with sudo apt install ./Axialis-IconVectors.deb, or open it in your software manager, then launch IconVectors from the applications menu. The package targets Ubuntu 24.04 LTS or later. The download page has the full steps and the uninstall command.
