Keyboard shortcuts

This page lists the default keyboard shortcuts available in IconVectors.

The shortcuts documented here come from:

  • the shortcut labels displayed in the main menus, and

  • the global accelerator keys defined by the application.

Notation

  • Ctrl = Control key

  • Alt = Alt key

  • Shift = Shift key

  • Key combinations are written like Shift+Ctrl+S.

  • Some shortcuts only work when the editor canvas has the focus.

Tip

If you are looking for a command but do not remember its shortcut, open the corresponding menu (for example File or View). Most commands display their shortcut on the right side of the menu.

Editor interactions

These shortcuts and key modifiers are used while drawing and editing directly on the canvas.

Tool selection

  • Selection Tool: V

Drawing with the Pen Tool

  • Finish an open polyline (stop placing points): Esc

Selection, move, and duplicate

  • Add/remove items from the selection: Shift + click

  • Nudge selection: * Arrow Keys = move by 0.1 px * Shift+Arrow Keys = move by 1 px

  • Duplicate while moving: * With the mouse: hold Alt and drag * With the keyboard: hold Alt and use Arrow Keys * For 1 px duplicate steps: Alt+Shift+Arrow Keys

Transform modifiers

While scaling or rotating with the mouse handles:

  • Keep proportions while scaling: hold Shift

  • Scale from the center (central symmetry): hold Alt

  • Constrain rotation to 15° steps: hold Shift

Path edition (anchor points and handles)

When the Path Edition Tool is active:

  • Select multiple anchor points: Shift + click

  • Delete selected anchor points: Del

  • Remove an anchor point quickly: Alt + click on the point

  • Convert an anchor point (corner ↔ smooth): Ctrl + click on the point

  • Handle editing modifiers: * Hold Ctrl to move one handle independently (unlink mode) * Hold Alt to move both handles symmetrically (mirror mode)
